Ride # 103 – Musafirs Motorcycle Ride to the Golden City of Rajasthan.

As the saying goes “Only the toughest of the horses and bravest of the men journey to this place,” an oasis in the middle of the desert, where the sun bows down to kiss the golden sand, where life is extremely difficult but is equally mesmerizing. We are talking about a motorcycle ride to the golden city of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. We’ve been through the mountains, done biking to the seas and now, we will be biking to the Great Thar Desert.

The experience will be much more than what you have read in books or seen on television … everything will come ALIVE!

Besides exploring the city of Jaisalmer, the itinerary on this motorcycle ride covers other places of importance like the City of Jodhpur, known for its rich heritage and culture;  the Longewaala Checkpost– just 12 kms from the Pakistan Border – a place where the 1971 Indo-Pak war was fought;the village of Pokhran where India conducted its first underground nuclear test; and the Bullet Baba Temple – the only place in the world where a motorcycle is worshipped by travelers for a smooth journey. These places are on every motorcyclist’s to-do list … so why not tick it off the list this March?

Itinerary of nine days of pure exploration and adventure:

Day 1:An early start of 5:00 AM from Fountain Hotel, at Ghodbunder Road-NH8 Junction ensures we reach Mehsana in Gujarat at about 588 kms.

Day 2:We ride to Jaisalmer via the City of Barmer stopping en-route at places of interest. We’ll ride through the sand dunes to reach our destination at about 470 kms in the Thar Desert.

Day 3: Experience the rich Rajasthani culture, food and have a good time shopping in the areas nearby. Also a good day to check the bikes in case it needs attention.

Day 4:Witness the valour of our armed forces as we ride 270 kms to the Longewaala Post deep inside the Thar Desert just 12 kms from Pakistan Border. This is also the last point till where civilians are allowed. The road is like a beautiful serpent laid over the desert, with sand dunes following. Once at the post one can visit the war museum which has various war relics and souvenirs of the 1971 war.

Day 5:Explore the famous Shonar Kella – the golden fort of Jaisalmer and the eerie, apparently haunted Kuldhara ruins.  Ride the camels in the desert and enjoy a beautiful sunset with sand dunes on the horizon.Enjoy a traditional Rajasthani dinner near a campfire in the desert – an unforgettable experience.

Day 6: Ride to Jodhpur through the Pokhran village (287Kms)

Day 7: Visit the famous Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur and the places nearby worth visiting. In the evening you are free to explore the Jodhpuri cuisine and enjoy shopping.

Day 8: Ride to Ahmedabad enroute we will visit the only temple dedicated to a motorcycle. The bullet baba temple where alcohol is an offering (455Kms)

Day 9: This is the last leg of our journey where we shall return to home with memories to cherish for lifetime.(500Kms)

Riding with the Musafirs requires biking discipline and punctuality. The Musafirs is an evolved motorcycle club. Our riders demonstrate real control, discipline, and temperament by riding in the designated formations at the designated speed and performing responsibilities that make the ride function like clockwork. The Musafirs is NOT a ‘Boyz-Only’ Riders Club. Female riders/pillions are welcome as our female crew member – Shona and numerous other female Musafirs would be there for company throughout the trip. We are not your conventional money-minting tour operators; biking is the only thing we do and that is what we are known for. We know our jobs pretty well, especially when it comes to group riding. If you have never been with us on any ride, go through our past rides or facebook page and you will know. On this circuit, you will be riding at altitudes, some bad road, short day time, and in terrains where the weather can turn hostile within seconds. It is a significant risk that requires experience to mitigate. Of course, you could save a few bucks by doing this ride with start-ups, novices, or friends – things would be smooth until the inexperience kicks in. The Musafirs will be making confirmed bookings and payments on your behalf and so the booking amount is non-refundable. Full ride fees to be paid  before the ride – 20th March 2018.

The Musafirs will be making confirmed bookings and payments on behalf of the members without compelling the member to transfer the booking amount. In case a member registers for the ride and cancels it after the cancellation date, the ride booking amount will be recovered from the member. It is a partnership of trust between the club and the member. We do not support/encourage drugs and are firmly against it!
